The Cottage is my lovingly converted Victorian red-brick dovecote on the 14 Acres estate, the most intimate of the three boutique stays on the estate. 65 m² of open-plan living, a luxury Hypnos super-king bed, a private dining deck with gas BBQ and views over rolling hills. Romantic couples’ retreat
The Cottage is built for two. The luxury Hypnos super-king bed, the blackout curtains, the underfloor heating, the original art and the open-plan living-dining make the slow-paced couples’ weekend feel properly indulgent. The private dining deck with gas BBQ looks out over rolling hills; the well-equipped kitchen handles the Saturday-night dinner in; Market Harborough’s restaurants are minutes away by car. Filtered well water on tap, premium linens, double-glazed windows for the quiet stay.
Mini-moons & honeymoon weekends
Newly married and skipping the big honeymoon for now? The Cottage is the perfect mini-moon: a long weekend or a quiet week in the countryside, properly intimate, no other guests in the building. Luxury Hypnos super-king bed, the dining deck for the slow breakfast and the BBQ dinner, walks straight off the door across the 14 Acres estate, and Kilworth House Theatre on the doorstep for the open-air summer performance.
Anniversary & milestone weekends
The Cottage isn’t a function venue, it’s better than one. Take the full Cottage privately, set the dining deck with champagne at golden hour, walk to dinner at one of Market Harborough’s best restaurants, finish on the deck with the BBQ and a slow evening looking over the rolling hills. Most anniversary stays book 3-5 nights so the celebration spreads across mornings on the deck, afternoons on the estate walks, and long evenings together.
Small family stays
Sleeps up to 4. The super-king bed splits into two singles for kids sharing; the sofa bed handles the fourth person. Family-ready essentials: smart TV with Netflix, Xbox, Amazon Echo, well-equipped kitchen, blackout curtains, underfloor heating. The 14 Acres estate has walks, the woods and views straight from the door; Market Harborough has the swimming pool, parks and the Friday market ten minutes away.
Silverstone & Burghley event stays
The Cottage is ~30 minutes by car from Silverstone circuit, the right intimate base for British Grand Prix, MotoGP, Silverstone Festival and Lap of Lights weekends for a couple or small family. Burghley Horse Trials is roughly 45 minutes; Kelmarsh Hall and Cathorpe Manor are closer for wedding-weekend stays. Free parking on the estate plus an EV charger on-site. Off-season & shoulder-week stays
Autumn and winter on the 14 Acres estate is genuinely lovely. The Cottage has underfloor heating throughout, blackout curtains, double-glazed windows for the quiet stay, a 50-inch Smart TV with Netflix for dark evenings, and the open-plan kitchen-living for slow Sunday lunches when going out feels like effort. January and February are the best-value weeks of the year. Christmas and New Year are popular, book early.
Remote-working weeks
100MB fibre WiFi, a proper work zone, international plug sockets and USB charging, an EV charger on-site for electric cars. The Cottage works as the right intimate workation base for a couple, or for one of you working while the other walks the estate. London is an hour by train if you need to be in the office mid-week. Work the morning, walk the 14 Acres in the afternoon, dinner on the dining deck.
